Spit Bridge to Manly Hike, Sydney Australia-June 2008

In 1965 my father and uncles homesteaded a beautiful large farm in Kununurra, Western Australia. In June of 2008, 16 members of my family traveled to Kununurra to visit the farm.

Our first Australia stop was in Sydney, where we enjoyed the Spit Bridge to Many Hike, shown below.

It was a beautiful June day (winter in Australia) The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly Wharf is a 5.9 mile walk through the Sydney Harbor National Park.
We hiked through rain-forests and bush type nature reserves, over boardwalks and along cliffs, on beaches and past expensive waterfront homes. It was all beautiful and so interesting.

Blood red tree sap.
Along our walk we would see lots of these spider webs, which appeared to be floating in the air, all loaded with spiders. Creepy buy Cool.
The hike ended at Manly Ferry Wharf where I insisted on taking this picture of the manly men in our group. We then caught a 30 minute ferry ride to Circular Quay, which is just next to the Sydney Opera House and the Syndey Harbour Bridge.
I highly recommend this hike to anyone traveling to Sydney, it took about half a day, including a stop for lunch and some shopping at Manly. Spectacular!
